The Wedding….and, Where’ve You Been?

Nothing jump starts a plus size curvy gal like an upcoming wedding, class reunion, or vacation on the beach. So where’ve I been? Why, jump starting, of course!

When was it I announced to the world I was on a diet? I just looked – it was June 14th. It is now August 21st. “The wedding” is four days away and I didn’t make my goal of 20# off.

With the best of intentions, I started out fresh every Monday in June, hoping to get to the end of a week still on a diet, and having lost at least 10# that week! But by Friday when the scale wouldn’t budge, I would once again succumb to the perception of failure, only to waste whatever good I had gained during the week by indulging away the rest of the weekend. Oh, what a sad sack. What a whiny little crybaby. This went on for a month until July 23rd.

My new plan began on July 23rd. Normally sleeping in until 7 or 8, I would now be setting an alarm clock for 5:30, because the gym is calling! I recruited an exercise pal and together we hit the gym at least 5 mornings a week. This week marks the 5th week, and I think I’ve finally got it right. Like so many of you readers, I’ve been down this road more times than I can count, but one thing is certain: the times I’ve been the most successful are the times I’ve maintained an exercise routine. Who wants to blow a good day at the gym pigging out at the dinner table!

So here it is, four days til “the wedding”. I’m 12 pounds lighter, immeasurably stronger & more confident, and wearing a beautiful dress in a size I didn’t think I’d see for awhile! I am happy.

That’s where I’ve been – jump starting. Jump starting ME, so I can feel better, look better, and perform at my best.
