Vanity Sizing – Myth or Fact?

A short time ago, Bryan Williams on NBC Nightly News mentioned the controversial myth of vanity sizing. Taken from his point of view, vanity sizing exists to satisfy the ego of people who can’t believe that they might have put on a few pounds over the years. The concept seems to be that a size 24″ waist is in reality a 26″ to 27″ (Not the numbers Bryan gave  – I didn’t take notes).

I have decided to do a little research on this. It may take a while, but because these things affect the way I do business, I am concerned to see what the real story is. I handle a ton of trendy plus size apparel in a week’s time, so I recognize the size difference in brands. I’ll report the findings here in a day or two. I am curious to see what the blogosphere has to say.

It won’t surprise me to find many different versions of this myth. I am finding that if you want a opinion on anything, you can find it in a blog somewhere that fits your own personal POV. It is rather hard to find a true “authority” site that you can trust. Although I believe everyone should have the right to express their opinion, it always pays to be able to back up whatever it is you blab on the Web. So, it means I will do some serious looking.

See you in store
