Changes In Attitude, Changes In Latitude

As you can see, we’ve updated the blog with a new look.  I’m liking it so far, but I’m fighting with my hubby over the hot pink.  Any woman worth her salt knows what hot pink is. Try to tell that to a man! My hubby thought it was time to bring the Bella Grande blog into the 21st century, mixing it with social networking, social bookmarking and an RSS feed.  To him, a blog is a living thing that is constantly changing  for improvement.  To me, a blog is a blog, so I leave all that good stuff to him.  It works better that way!

Lots of new arrivals this week.  I can’t believe the quality of some of the things coming into the store.  We often get overwhelmed with the quantity and quality of the stuff that comes in.  I think the stigma of what high-toned women call “thrift shops” is beginning to disappear from our society.  Bella Grande is a pretty classy place, even if I say so myself.  Not only would like to make a buck or two, but we feel it is vitally important that the shop offers a haven for plus size women that have had more than their share of bad experiences in top name stores.  We are very careful when we checked in new consignments to ensure that the quality is the best, no rips, tears, missing buttons or stains.  We don’t take Kmart and Wal-Mart brands, and we are always aware of what is trendy at the time.  It has been winning combination for us here at Bella Grande, where customer service is king.

Hubby and I are currently looking at a place in the country.  Too many months of listening to street people, fire engines and police vehicles and rowdy teenagers are taking their toll on us.  We long for a place that has grass in the backyard instead of a concrete parking lot.  Business has been good enough so that we can consider this move.  We looked at a place on South Lawrence, and are going to the bank on Monday.  Wish us luck!

On Monday, we will be rolling out the long-awaited MyResaleWeb site that will make it convenient for cosigners to check their balances online without bothering to call us for a quote.  We are installing DSL this weekend.  I had to write my hubby with a six-pack of Heineken’s to get it done, but it’s going to make life much better for all concerned.  It’s just one more service we can offer to our friends.

We don’t have much planned for the Fourth of July.  We’ll visit friends in the evening, play some cards and catch up on old times.  I’m happy to see the Fourth come, because it means a much needed day off for me, and an opportunity to celebrate our country.  We hope that all have a safe and happy Fourth of July.

See you in store,

Betsy, Katie and Heather
